This week we give praise to our dedicated 'Garden Guardians' from class 4/5. All week, students have been diligently tending the vege gardens after the much awaited rain. Tending their personal vegetable beds downstairs in the senior area, students have displayed the values of caring for the environment, teamwork, community service, cooperation, responsibility and dedication.

Last Thursday, we had our 2017 Kindergarten students come and spend the morning with us. They were eager to explore the classroom and get a taste of what school will be like next year! The children have one more orientation session which is on the 1st December.

The whole school participated in a ‘Start Smart Program’ conducted by the Commonwealth bank. The program aims to educate children about financial literacy and how to plan and manage money.

Class 1 & 2 participated in a ‘Responsible Pet Program’ Students learnt the safe way to approach a dog and also know what to do if approached by an angry dog. Following this program they felt much more informed about how to keep themselves safe around dogs.

Year 7 has enjoyed playing Tennis at the Murwillumbah Tennis courts each Wednesday morning. Students have learnt how to hold a tennis racquet, execute a forehand and backhand volley, forehand and backhand groundstroke and how to serve. Students are also learning the scoring system of tennis and the components of a tennis court.

A whole school mufti day was held to show support and appreciation for the ‘Story Dogs’ program. Children were invited to wear orange and donate a gold coin on the day. Tara, the story dog visits our school once a week.

This term, an exciting excursion has been planned for the students in K-2. The planned excursion is on Tuesday 19th November (Week 7) and will be a day trip to the Hastings Point Marine Environments Field Study & Resource Centre. The students will participate in a day of discovery around marine wildlife and their environments.
