All students at SSC participate in a half an hour of yoga each week. This is part of our holistic approach towards building a healthy body and mind through increased body awareness, balance, and coordination. The benefits of yoga are widely accepted and research shows that yoga not only assist in assists in neuromuscular-development it also develops core strength, essential for good posture and correct physical alignment. Through yoga students improve their mind/body connection, learn to lead fit and healthy lifestyle and have a overall sense of well-being.
Sport is an important part of SSC. We believe in students participating in a full range of sporting activities at all levels of ability so they learn to extend themselves through personal fitness and teamwork while developing a strong sense of sportsmanship and fair play.
The college is a member of the North Coast Independent Schools Sports Association (NCISSA) Primary inter-school sports competition and students who excel in sport have opportunities to compete in events such as:
Music and song bring joy and love apart from regular music lessons included in the curriculum, individual and paired instrumental lessons are also available. These involve private tuition on guitar, violin, cello and keyboard at the senior campus; and violin, cello and keyboard at the primary campus.
Service learning is an integral part of SSC as it provides students with opportunities to develop an ethical sense of social responsibility by encouraging students to develop partnerships with the community benefit sector, advancing equity and social justice in the community. Students learn by doing and practice good citizenship and public-spirited leadership.
Each student at SSC will have opportunities to take part in one or more service projects which help support and caring for the environment, animals and the elderly.
